Former Minister of Education, Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, has been taken into custody by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
The arrest occurred at Kawukudi, near Nima, in the Greater Accra Region.
The reasons behind Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi’s detention are currently unclear, as NIB officials are still in discussions with the former minister.
No official statement has been released regarding the reasons for his arrest.
Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi’s legal team is at the NIB office, working to understand the basis of his detention and to secure his release. Lawyers are actively engaging with NIB authorities and negotiating for bail.
Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi also previously served as Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority Board.
Meanwhile, former NSA Deputy Director of Operations Kwaku Ohene Gyan, known as Osonoba, has been detained by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

He was arrested on Saturday evening and is currently in Kawukudi.
While the reasons for his detention remain unclear, his lawyers are expected to meet with him tomorrow to discuss the situation and explore possible legal options for his release.
It is unclear if his arrest is linked to the recent NSA scandal.
