President-elect John Mahama of Ghana has called for a seamless and transparent transition of power following his recent electoral victory.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Joint Transitional Team at the Accra International Conference Centre, Mahama emphasized the importance of cooperation, mutual respect, and openness throughout this process.
The Joint Transitional Team is mandated by the Presidential Transition Act of 2012 to facilitate the smooth handover of administrative duties from the outgoing government to the incoming one.
Mahama stressed that the transition is a crucial step in upholding Ghana’s democratic principles. He expressed his hope that the team would adhere to the law to ensure a peaceful and effective transfer of power, reflecting the will of the Ghanaian people.
This call for a smooth transition echoes sentiments expressed by Baba Sadiq, a newly elected Member of Parliament, regarding his commitment to both his constituents and the creative arts sector.
While these are distinct areas of focus, both Mahama and Sadiq’s statements highlight the importance of collaborative processes in Ghana’s political and social landscape.
